Don’t worry—we can talk through this during your FREE initial consultation and find the approach that feels right for you. You can choose a single focus, like counselling, or we can create a tailored blend of therapies to suit your needs.
If you’re curious about combining different options, just let me know during the consultation. We’ll explore all the possibilities together and decide on the best way forward that truly works for you.
Yes, outdoor therapy can be ethical when key considerations are addressed, such as maintaining confidentiality, obtaining informed consent, ensuring physical safety, and assessing its suitability for the client. With these measures in place, outdoor therapy can be a meaningful and appropriate approach.
As part of my honours degree, I researched working therapeutically in nature, to gain a deeper understanding of this approach, and how nature can bring enhanced benefits to therapy, the client and the therapist!
Your voice matters, and we will only work in a way that feels right for you. All therapy is conducted with your full agreement and informed consent. I also engage in regular supervision to ensure that my practice remains safe, ethical, and focused on your well-being.
The number of sessions required varies for everyone. In counselling and outdoor therapy, I predominantly work long-term with clients, but I do also offer short-term work. When working with CBT for management of menopause symptoms, this is a more structured short term approach (usually 6-8 sessions). This will be discussed during our initial consultation and reviewed regularly throughout the therapeutic process.
My relaxed, cosy therapy room is based near Wigan town centre and accessible by road, bus and rail links so I am easily accessible from Manchester, Liverpool, Cheshire, and surrounding areas. There is also a bus stop just 5 minutes’ walk away.
The beautiful local green outdoor spaces I work in can be found anywhere in the vicinity of Wigan and surrounding areas.
My online and telephone work allows me to offer therapy to clients all over the UK.
Exact location details of our sessions will be provided once we have arranged your first session.
Payment must be made no later than 24 hours prior to the session. Accepted methods of payment include bank transfer or cash (which may be provided at the start of the session).
The initial consultation, held either over the phone or online, provides an opportunity for us to discuss what has brought you to therapy, explore how we might work together, and address any questions you may have about the process. It also helps determine if we are a good fit, ensuring you feel comfortable and confident in working together.
Feeling comfortable with your therapist is essential to getting the most out of your sessions. If you’re happy to move forward, we’ll schedule your first session, and I will share the therapeutic agreement—a document outlining how we will work together—for you to review, complete, and sign.
During your first session, we’ll begin by reviewing the agreement and answering any questions you might have. I may also go through some intake questions to better understand your needs. Once this is done, the therapeutic process begins.
What you share with me is completely confidential, which is one of the key benefits of professional therapy. It creates a safe space where you can openly and honestly explore what’s going on for you.
However, it’s important to understand that there are rare circumstances where confidentiality may need to be broken, such as when there is a risk of harm to you or others. These situations are uncommon, and we will fully discuss the boundaries of confidentiality during the contracting process in your first session.
Sessions are usually once a week. However, I am guided by my clients and so, if you require a more flexible approach, this can be discussed. At the beginning, I believe regular therapy (at the very least bi-weekly) is most beneficial. As the work progresses, it may feel right to come to sessions less frequently, and this will be discussed.
I currently see clients on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between 11-8pm.
Absolutely! You can access therapy no matter where you are. Online sessions are available through MS Teams. As long as you have a quiet, comfortable space free from distractions and a reliable internet connection, we can create a supportive and effective space to work together. You do not need to download or purchase any app or software, or be tech savvy. I will send you a link to the online session which you just need to click on to access.
It is important that you feel ready to commit to engaging in therapy, and that your diary allows you to attend your sessions consistently. However, I understand that sometimes things come up and you may need to cancel a session.
Cancellations made over 24 hours in advance of your session can be rescheduled to a later date. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice will be non-refundable.
